The M9 is an uncommon semi-automatic handgun.

History

The Beretta M9 was designed in Italy by Beretta in the 1980's. It won a firearm competition in the 80's to replace the aging M1911A1 as the primary sidearm of the US Military, beating many other contenders, only narrowly beating the SIG P226 for cost reasons. It entered official service in the 1990's and is still in active service as of today. Unfortunately, the sidearm is planned to be replaced in the near future by other handguns.

Overview

The Beretta M9 operates on a short recoil mechanism and fires 9x19mm Parabellum rounds stored in 17 round magazines (are actually held in 15 round magazines), including 32 round extended magazines. The weapon is rare, along with its ammunition and can be found in military tents or outposts. Attachments on the sidearm are slightly limited, not allowing the pistol's sights to be modified, only the barrel and under barrel. Recoil levels are low, giving the user a great sense of control over the weapon while firing and accuracy. The sidearm is also quiet, giving a good stealth account when operating in urban areas. Barrel length measures 4.9 inches and maximum muzzle velocity reaches 381 m/s. The only con of the weapon is the M9 is semi-auto. This minor flaw will make most players choose the M9's sisters, the M93R, or the G18. Overall, the handgun provides great performance and it assures the user with great defense if used correctly.
